When William Cossart arrived in Madeira in 1808 after a 6 year journey from Dublin his boat was hijacked by the French, William Gordon, founder of the island39s oldest shipper, had the prefix he39d been waiting for. Fugitive from Scotland39s 3945 Rebellion39, Gordon was pleased that his wines were used to toast America39s Declaration of Independence. This is the lightest style of Madeira, a fine balance of buttery, nutty richness and zesty lemon peel flavour. Chill enjoy with olives or nuts.
